Seminar “Lignin – the green gold of nature” and project partner meeting in Tartu
On March 21, 2024, a seminar dedicated to the valorisation of lignin, titled “Lignin – the green gold of nature” was hold at the Estonian University of Life Sciences. More information and presentations from the seminar are available here.
After the seminar, NoviCo project partners held a meeting and discussed the progress and next steps of the project.
Seminar “Bioenergy Technologies and Biotechnologies”
On October 17 our annual Seminar „Bioenergy Technologies and Biotechnologies” was held as part of RTU 64. International Scientific Conference.
This year our focus was on biomass resources, bioenergy and resource extraction from sewage sludge. Presentations, discussions and future perspectives for each idea and topic were held. This year the seminar also included a poster session, where students from our study programme presented their projects and gained valuable feedback from experienced researchers.

Project partner meeting in Riga
On October 20 we held a project meeting in Riga Technical University. Progress, future activities and next steps were planned and discussed.
Next meeting is planned in May 2023 in Tartu together with 13th international conference “Biosystems Engineering 2023”.

On October 20 our annual Seminar „Bioenergy Technologies and Biotechnologies” was held as part of RTU 63. International Scientific Conference.
This year our focus was on biomass resources, bioenergy and resource extraction from sewage sludge. Presentations, discussions and future perspectives for each idea and topic were held, joined by around 30 biotechnology students from our study program.

Project kick-off meeting in Oslo
From 23rd – 24th September, all NoviCo partners met in Oslo to discuss project activities, future plans, and next steps.
From 2021 – 2024 Riga Technical University together with SINTEF and Estonian University of Life sciences is participating in NoviCo Project „Novel biorefinery concepts for valorization of lignocellulosic residues” financially supported by EEA Grant of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway (Agreement No. EEZ/BPP/VIAA/2021/7).
