RTU annual Alumni Day
On Friday, 29th April, in Kipsala, Riga Technical University (RTU) campus were RTU annual Alumni Day. Event day program was held Forum of ideas where participated Linda Mezule. She talked about idea generation process. After forum were Live Library. In the evening were RTU Honorary graduate and RTU angels award ceremony.

Gudrs, vēl gudrāks
On 22th April in the LTV1 programme «Gudrs, vēl gudrāks» where was final for 12th class one of the questions were experiment made by Talis Juhna and Sandis Dejus. They for the experiment used two beakers, which poured in deionized water and placed electrodes, which are connected to a power source. The finalists had to answer the question «What kind of chemical process takes place in the measuring cup, and why each water turns a different color» after each tipped onto 2gr table salt.

Representatives from Aqua-Brambis Ltd
On March 30 Talis Juhna, Kristina Tihomirova and Janis Rubulis met with representatives from Aqua-Brambis Ltd (Aivars Brambis and Juris Laicans). Company (http://www.aqua-brambis.lv/) is one of the oldest working in field of consulting and design of water and wastewater systems in Latvia. During the meeting partners had speeches about education of water engineers in Latvia and possible closer cooperation in near future.
Story of NeoZeo and RTU researchers innovative facility
On 22th March, in the LNT broadcast «LNT news» was the story of NeoZeo and RTU researchers innovative facility that allows upgrading biogas into biomethane. It cleans the biogas from hydrogen sulfide, moisture and carbon dioxide, compresses it to the required pressure, as well as storing the resulting product. The facility is able to produce smaller volumes that is suitable for farmers. Currently, these device are used on the farm «Vecsiljāņi».

Risk management of drinking water supply systems
On March 17th in Riga Technical University, Kipsalas street 6a room 256 at 14:00 o’clock will be held a professors Thomas Pettersson lecture «Risk management of drinking water supply systems». Thomass is leading the drinking water research centre DRICKS at Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden. Thomas has his expertize within risk assessment/management, raw water protection and distribution network management and renewal.
To this lecture are invited all interested.

Thomass Pettersson, a leader of the drinking water research center DRICKS (Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden), and PhD students Saeed Mohlesi and Victor Vinas have visited Water Research Laboratory on March 16-17th. The main topics of the presentations and discussion between two teams were about drinking water on-line monitoring and modelling, and microbial risks analysis. Additionally, Thomass Pettersson have given a lecture on «Risk management of drinking water supply systems», which covered risk assessment and management in a water safety plan context.
On March 8-9th 2016 WATERCHAIN second partner meeting
On March 8-9th 2016 WATERCHAIN second partner meeting took place in Riga (Latvia). It was organised by Riga Technical university team. The participants were from Satakunta University of Applied Sciences (leader of the group) and all of the project partners from Pyhäjärvi Institute, Turku University of Applied Sciences, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Tallinn University of Technology, Estonian Environmental Research Centre, Foundation «Institute for Environmental Solutions» and Åland Waterwork Ltd. The main discussions were related to different administrative issues, solutions for better collaboration between partners and current activities in project. RTU organised practical excursion to the Water Research laboratory and presented practical results from first period of Waterchain project.
NeoZeo together with researchers from RTU
NeoZeo together with researchers from RTU, Water Research Laboratory has achieved another milestone to create an innovative facility that allows upgrading biogas into biomethane, one of the greenest vehicle fuels, as well as promote and contribute to significantly reducing green gas emissions and pollution! The first car to run on 100% biomethane in Latvia already had its test drive this March. The car is powered by high value biomethane produced with NeoZeo’s biogas upgrading module «NeoBioGas-70», which is fully equipped with the necessary facilities. A complete filling of the tank with biomethane is sufficient for the car to cover approximately 250 km. From Water Research Laboratory in this project are involved Kristine Rugele and Janis Rubulis.

On 18th February Talis Juhna and Kamila Gruskevica participated in the LWWWWA seminar «The current in the water supply system management and in the drinking water quality assurance». Talis presented Water Research Laboratory, its team, projects and research area (water and energy). He also spoke about Water supply system disinfection(theory and practice). Kamila presented ideas about Drinking water quality impact on theiron pipe corrosion. In seminar also were representatives from «IP Riga» and Health Inspectorate, Public Health Division.

Head of group of Water Research Laboratory Tālis Juhna on February 15th in Riga Technical University met with new Latvian Education and Science Minister Karlis Sadurskis. They speeked about his prioritys in the future of Latvia, which are science and higher education.
