An exhibition of inventions and innovations MINOX 2016
From 7th to 8th October at Riga Technical University Design Centre took place an exhibition of inventions and innovations MINOX 2016, where it was possible to get acquainted with the latest inventions and innovative solutions. Water Research Laboratory participated in the exhibition and presented the technology for the production of biofuels from biomass.

On 6th of October Water Research Laboratory senior researcher Kamila Gruskevica and researcher Alina Nescerecka visited the Latvian Radio 1, where discussed about the drinking water chlorination.

Collaboration with the Latvian water and sewerage business associations
On 28th of September Water Research Laboratory representative Sandis Dejus visited A. Pumpurs Riga 11th primary school and in collaboration with the Latvian water and sewerage business associations (LWSA) (http://www.lwwwwa.lv/) executive director Baiba Gulbe presented the students the importance of water in nature and society, as well as focused on sustainable and economical attitude to drinking water resources.
Coordinate Brigita’s doctoral studies plan
On 09th of September Head of Laboratory Tālis Juhna and laboratory researcher Brigita Daļecka met with the Swedish Royal Technical University (SRTU) Department of Biotechnology doctoral work supervisor Gunaratna Kurruva to coordinate Brigita’s doctoral studies plan at RTU – SRTU doctoral program.
Tehnoloģijas drošai un uzticamai gudrajai pilsētai
On 29th of September a researcher of Water Research Laboratory Alina Nescerecka, who is currently involved in a VPP SOPHIS project «Tehnoloģijas drošai un uzticamai gudrajai pilsētai», took part in LTV7 program «Жизнь сегодня» («Dzīve šodien»). She was talking about her research on drinking water chlorination, drinking water quality and safety.

Organizing Climathon event
RTU Water Research Laboratory organizing Climathon event, which will take place on 28th October. It is a 24-hour event on climate change, which will take place at the same time 121 cities around the world. Riga will take part with a topic – Flooding in the city. Participants will work in teams, to discuss, to choose the best solution of climate change problem.

Visit Uppsala wastewater treatment plant and pilot for removal of pharmaceuticals from wastewater
From 6th to 9th September Kamila Gruskevica, Viktorija Denisova, Brigita Dalecka and Talis Juhna visited Swedish Royal Technical University to participate in Waterchain project meeting for WP2. We had a great time meeting our project colleagues and discussing important topics. Viktorija and Kamila had a presentation about current research status for lab-scale pilot experiments. We had a great opportunity to visit Uppsala wastewater treatment plant and pilot for removal of pharmaceuticals from wastewater.

On 26th of July Water Research Laboratory leading researcher Janis Rubulis represented Latvian consortium «Climate Knowledge and Innovation Community» (Climate – KIC), which is the most active among the six existing Europe Institute of Innovation and Technology communities.
