Talis Juhna visited the Latvian Radio 1 program «Zināmais nezināmajā»
Water research laboratory scientific assistant Sandis Dejus and head of the laboratory Talis Juhna visited the Latvian Radio 1 program «Zināmais nezināmajā» where they spoke about drinking water treatment processes and drinking water quality at the customer.

Participated in food safety
Water research laboratory scientific assistant Sandis Dejus participated in food safety, animal health and the environment institute «BIOR» experts in collaboration with the Disease Prevention and Control Center and the Riga Technical University organized a free seminar on legionellosis agent spread of water supply systems and prevention measures where resented the engineering solutions in legionella where presented the engineering solutions in legionella limiting in water supply systems.

This year, on March 13th pupils from Teika elementary school attended our water research laboratory. Children were able to learn the basics of drinking water treatment.

Participate in Waterchain project partner meeting
From 6th to 8th March Kristina Tihomirova, Linda Mezule and Talis Juhna visited the Åland Islands in Baltic Sea to participate in Waterchain project partner meeting. During meeting our project colleagues discussed the progress of project activities, Waterchain handbook, Rock Baltic Sea Festival and other important topics. Kristina had a presentation about current work for pilot experiments. We had an opportunity to visit Åland drinking water treatment plant and pilot watersheds. We were happy to meet our colleague Brigita Dalecka, who started her PhD study in KTH&RTU and participates in Waterchain project as a researcher now. We are thankful to Ann Nedergård (Ålands Vatten) for a great organizational work and opportunity to visit this beautiful place with the interesting history!
During World Water Day Water Research Laboratory visited Salaspils 1-st secondary school
During World Water Day Water Research Laboratory visited Salaspils 1-st secondary school 6.c class students. With laboratory introduced our scientific assistants – Victoria Denisova and Sandis Dejus. Sandis told about the water, its importance in human life, and how to use water on a daily basis. Then Victoria and Sandis presented our laboratory, telling about the research work and currently realized projects.

Senior researchers of our team Kamila Gruskevica and Kristina Tihomirova participated in Waterchain project meeting for WP3 on 25th of January in Tallin, Estonia. It was a great opportunity to discuss hazardous substances monitoring systems and programs in different states of Baltic sea region. Kamila had a presentation about current research status in Latvian hotspots.
